At Your First Orthodontic Appointment
Your first visit, or the initial orthodontic consultation, is about diagnosing orthodontic problems and forming a treatment plan. You will fill out some paperwork to help Dr. Hung understand your oral health history and get a good idea of your treatment goals. Dr. Hung will also take X-rays and photos to get a complete picture of what’s going on in your mouth. Dr. Hung will then perform an examination to see how your teeth align and perform.
Once all the information has been gathered, it will be time to start discussing treatment options, including an estimation of how long the treatment will take and a quote of the cost of treatment. If the appointment is for a minor child, a parent or legal guardian must be present. We will work with you every step of the way to make sure your orthodontic care is as rewarding as possible. We utilize the latest technology and offer a variety of safe and gentle treatment options to give you the customized, individual care you deserve.
Every Smile Starts With an Initial Consultation
Your initial consultation will give you the opportunity to meet the orthodontist and our team, learn more about orthodontics, receive a complete initial exam, and find out which treatment options will best meet your needs. During your initial consultation, we will:
- Review your dental and medical history forms
- Perform a complete oral exam, with X-rays, to determine whether treatment is necessary
- Help you create a customized treatment plan
- Discuss all financial information, insurance options, and payment plans

What Happens After the Initial Consultation?
Once your first visit is finished, you’ll be one step closer to achieving the smile you’ve always wanted! After your consultation, we will schedule your first appointment and the orthodontist will place your new orthodontic appliance. This appointment generally takes about an hour, and during this time our team will be available to make sure you are as comfortable as possible.
What to Bring to Your Consultation
We do everything we can to make sure your consultation is enjoyable and smooth, but you can help to by coming prepared with the following things:
- X-rays from your general dentist, if possible
- Your dental insurance information
- Patient Forms filled out
- Your questions about orthodontic treatment!
Having this prepared and ready for your appointment will save you time and allow us to make your first visit the very best experience.
Scheduling Appointments
Visiting our office about every four to eight weeks is an essential part of your treatment with our orthodontist. Our practice will work with you to make sure your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know which days and times work best for you.
We understand that life sometimes gets in the way of plans. If you’re running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
