Why Invisalign for Teens?

Invisalign Teen is the new way to get a simply amazing smile without worrying about bulky brackets or visible tracks that come with traditional braces.

It’s perfectly natural to feel a bit self-conscious about the idea of wearing braces but there’s no need to get stressed out about being asked on a date or what your yearbook picture is going to look like, because Invisalign Teen aligners fit your lifestyle.

What Are the Advantages of Invisalign Teen?

Regular braces can give you some pain and discomfort and they make eating certain foods almost impossible. These clear aligners are different: they are clear, comfortable, and removable and will give you the confidence to do what you want with your friends.

Invisalign braces aren’t just popular with young people. In fact, numerous celebrities, including Khloe Kardashian, have opted to improve their smile with Invisalign.

Who Is using Invisalign?

Invisalign offers a modern way to fix your smile and the process is so simple, with stunning results at the end of the treatment. Our experienced team take digital photos of your teeth when you first come to see us and then we discuss with you what you want your teeth to look like.

Using a customized set of aligners constructed from a smooth, comfortable, and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth, your teeth will gradually and gently shift into place. There are no metal brackets or wires to worry about and all you need to do is put in a new set of aligners about every two weeks until your treatment is complete.

The Daily Invisalign Experience

For the first few days of each stage of your teen’s treatment, they may feel minor discomfort as their teeth get used to the added pressure, similar to what traditional braces patients experience after adjustments. This is perfectly normal and a sign that the aligners are doing their job.

The difference is that with Invisalign, your teen may be tempted to take the aligners off to relieve the pressure. Encourage them to resist that temptation, because it will delay their results! They should wear their aligners at all times during their treatment, except during meals and snacks and while brushing and flossing their teeth. Wearing them less often will make their treatment take longer.

Potential patients often ask if Invisalign will make it difficult to speak clearly. Most patients experience very little difficulty with speaking clearly while wearing their aligners, but there will likely be an adjustment period as you get used to having them in your mouth.

Caring for Invisalign Trays

To clean these aligners, your teen should brush and rinse them in lukewarm water and use Invisalign Cleaning Crystals or special cleaning tablets. They should also brush and floss after each meal before they re-insert their aligners.

One of the best advantages of Invisalign over traditional wire braces is that there is no banned foods list! As long as your teen is brushing and flossing before putting their aligners back in, they can enjoy all their favorite foods without compromising their orthodontic treatment!

Gum can stick to the aligners, so it’s not a good idea to chew it while they’re in. Remind your teen to take their aligners out for all meals and snacks. We also discourage smoking during Invisalign treatment, as it can stain and discolor the aligners, as well as increasing the risk of tooth decay and gum disease.

Why Invisalign Over Other Products?

Invisalign is an excellent choice for your child’s orthodontic treatment. It is a trusted brand in invisible aligners, and they will love the freedom of being able to take their aligners out to eat and brush their teeth. They can even view their virtual treatment plan before beginning and get a preview of what their smile will look like at the end!

Retainers After Invisalign

Retainers are crucial at the end of any orthodontic treatment, whether your teen is using Invisalign or traditional wire braces because it takes time for teeth to get used to their new positions. Make sure to encourage them to wear their retainers as directed by Dr. Hung.

How RockCenter Orthodontics Can Help

For those patients that do not want traditional braces, Dr. Hung recommends Invisalign. It doesn’t work for all types of orthodontic problems, but it’s an excellent solution for patients with dental crowding or other alignment problems if they would prefer not to get traditional braces.

Invisalign is a modern approach to teeth straightening without many of the drawbacks of braces. The clear plastic aligners are nearly invisible, allowing your teen to confidently show off their smile while straightening their teeth.
